Can i use us plug in australia

Do I need a power plug in Australia? What adaptor do they use in Australia? What is the standard plug amp used in Australia?

Is it as simple as buying power plug adapter for the use of us gadgets in Austral? How to use plugs from United States of America in Australia Plugs, sockets, adapters and other information needed for travelling from United States of America to Australia in this page. If you want a report for other countries, re-start the wizard to find to electric adapters for your trip here.

If your country does use the same mains voltage as Australia all you need is a power adapter. This enables you to plug your appliance into the sockets in Australia. Note: Visitors from New Zealand do not need either a voltage converter or power adapter. Your appliances will work in Australia. Our TVs use a different PAL system and not all UK sets will work properly here.

We only use three plugs. Two slanted one on the top and a straight down one on the bottom. Check if you need a power plug adapter or voltage converter for the power sockets (outlets) used in Australia.

The following information is for travelers living in the United Kingdom. I live in another country. You need a power plug adapter in Australia , when living in the United Kingdom.

You will need to consider what to pack, to ensure you can use your personal electrical appliances safely whilst in Australia. This normally includes the use of a travel adaptor, which is a device that simply allows you to plug any UK electrical appliance into a foreign electrical socket. USA uses 110V 60Hz and Australia is 240V 50Hz. Manufacturers take these small deviations into account. Simply put, you plug your appliance into the power adapter and then plug the power adapter into the wall socket in Australia.

There is also a amp plug whose prongs are wider still. A lower-amperage plug will always fit into a higher-amperage outlet but not vice versa. Australia uses 2volt current, so if you plug your normal US appliance (such as a hair straightener) in to it, it will definitely get fried.

To be able to plug your US appliance into an Australian power point, you need a plug adapter - but this does NOT convert the voltage. The difference between an Adapter and Transformer 1) Adapters do not convert current from 240V to 110V for US appliances. Some US laptop power adapters only have prongs – if this is the case, no need to even buy a cable for Australian socket, just use pliers to bend the prongs so that they are slanted enough to fit the Australian plug.

I have done this – I am from US and now call Australia my home. If the adapter has prongs buy a cable for Australian socket. Anything with a heating element will need a transformer to convert our 240V down to the US 110V.

Getting a legal, safe one will not be cheap. Anything that you plug into the power point needs to be tested to Australian Standards and carry an Approval Number. In Australia the standard voltage is 2V and the frequency is Hz.

If it is your good to go except for the physical power plug. You may need an adapter. You can seriously damage your appliances.

You should be able to purchase the appropriate adapters at any travel type store or Radio Shack. See this site for plug and voltage requirements.
