How to write to a prisoner you don

Can you write to a prisoner? What does it mean to write to someone in prison? Do not enclose anything with your. Female inmates want to be prison penpals with you and start over.

Writing to prisoners Writing to prisoners is a very important part of prisoner support. It is a way to show your solidarity, as well as vital to building strong movements in which we take care of each other. When you’re writing for the first time, keep it short – you don’t want to overwhelm someone.

Prisons cannot open. Ask open-ended questions. Writing letters may be one of the only ways that an incarcerated individual can talk about. Mail moves slower in prison.

Avoid writing to more than one inmate from a prison. This can create tension between the inmates. First, the basics: Follow any and all special instructions on the prisoner’s support website. These will often include specific regulations.


Address the letter exactly as the address is listed on the prisoner support website (or handout). Any departure from may. You should write a letter to your penpal, explaining that you’re planning to stop corresponding, but that you wish them all the best. The more notice you can give us of your intentions to stop corresponding, the better. That way we can start working right away to find both of you a new match.
