An aussie night before christmas

An Aussie Night Before Christmas is quintessentially Australian. Everything from possums to water tanks, Pavlova and Shazza, to beer left out for Santa. There is so much nostalgia in this Aussie Christmas story! This is a great addition to a Night Before Christmas collection, and one of the more unusual ones.


It made a hit with a friend who collects this genre. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders.

The obvious solutions are to don a sunhat, shorts and a pair of thongs, not to mention ditching the sleigh and reindeer in favour of some roos and a ute. Yvonne Morrison sticks to the original rhyming pattern but inserts some great Aussie lingo to bring it bang up to date with a great twist of humour. But a rusty old ute pulled by eight mighty ‘roos. As a chil I was enthralled by stories and the magical storytellers who brought them to life. Every line of this traditional verse has been remodelle replete with Aussie references.

I love Aussie versions of. Retelling old stories is a really interesting concept for students to investigate. Way out on the prairie, without any snow. Twas the night before Christmas, in Texas, you know.

Although the bush setting may not reflect the experiences of urban and coastal Australians, the are many images in the illustrations such as lamingtons, wattle, fairy bread and a kelpie pup jumping about.
